Legacy Communication Training and Consulting

Communication for Leaders

with Michael Strawser

The course is designed to be on your own time using primarily webinar-style content and interactive workbooks. The course is designed by modules with most of the modules devoted directly to course content. The course includes over 2 hours of webinar-style content and 3 interactive workbooks.

The course has three modules.

Module 1: Communication for Leaders

Module 2: Messages and Moments

Module 3: Public Speaking and Command Presence

These modules have been designed both as standalone content and as structured content that builds off of content from previous modules. Meaning, you can consume them in any order but my suggestion would be to start with Module 1 and move in order from there. I have included module descriptions below for easy access.

Module 1: Communication for Leaders

While certainly a buzzword for leaders today, communication is more than just a 'soft skill'. As leaders, we must simultaneously be active listeners as well as powerful influencers. This interactive session will explore communication as a necessary skill for leaders and will provide strategies to become a true connector, powerful influencer, and empathetic listener.

1) Gain a more detailed understanding of the communication process and why communication matters

2) Diagnose communication breakdowns in your organization

3) Develop skills to enhance communication across your organization

4) Understand leadership communication as a special form of human communication

Module 2: Messages and Moments

Employees need to send and receive messages with strategic effectiveness and genuine care in the workplace. This session explores different message types delivered in the workplace and strategies to deliver messages more effectively.

1) Understand persuasion strategies to communicate up, down, and across your organization

2) Develop strategies to communicate bad news messages

3) Develop strategies to handle objections to bad news messages

Module 3: Public Speaking and Command Presence

Communication never ends. To communicate publicly, we need to understand how to organize our thoughts, develop content, and deliver with a commanding presence. This session explores all of these topics and more.

1) Understand how to conduct an audience analysis

2) Develop strategies to be a more effective speaker
