Business Writing
The purpose of this module is to give you a new perspective regarding business writing, email etiquette, and basic editing. The goal is not to make you a 'Grammar-Expert', instead it is to help you refine your message and understand your audience when sending text-based messages at work.

Communication for Leaders
with Michael Strawser
The course is designed to be on your own time using primarily webinar-style content and interactive workbooks. The course is designed by modules with most of the modules devoted directly to course content. The course includes over 2 hours of webinar-style content and 3 interactive workbooks.
The course has three modules.
Module 1: Communication for Leaders
Module 2: Messages and Moments
Module 3: Public Speaking and Command Presence
These modules have been designed both as standalone content and as structured content that builds off of content from previous modules. Meaning, you can consume them in any order but my suggestion would be to start with Module 1 and move in order from there. I have included module descriptions below for easy access.
Module 1: Communication for Leaders
While certainly a buzzword for leaders today, communication is more than just a 'soft skill'. As leaders, we must simultaneously be active listeners as well as powerful influencers. This interactive session will explore communication as a necessary skill for leaders and will provide strategies to become a true connector, powerful influencer, and empathetic listener.
Outcomes:
1) Gain a more detailed understanding of the communication process and why communication matters
2) Diagnose communication breakdowns in your organization
3) Develop skills to enhance communication across your organization
4) Understand leadership communication as a special form of human communication
Module 2: Messages and Moments
Employees need to send and receive messages with strategic effectiveness and genuine care in the workplace. This session explores different message types delivered in the workplace and strategies to deliver messages more effectively.
Outcomes:
1) Understand persuasion strategies to communicate up, down, and across your organization
2) Develop strategies to communicate bad news messages
3) Develop strategies to handle objections to bad news messages
Module 3: Public Speaking and Command Presence
Communication never ends. To communicate publicly, we need to understand how to organize our thoughts, develop content, and deliver with a commanding presence. This session explores all of these topics and more.

1) Understand how to conduct an audience analysis
2) Develop strategies to be a more effective speaker

It is easy to assume that the dawn of COVID-19 was the leading factor for remote work. In many ways, the 'explosion' of remote work positions and opportunities was heavily influenced by the events of 2020, but remote work and the work from anywhere concept have existed much longer. This course explores topics like remote work culture, policies and procedures for remote workers, as well as communication in remote work environments. Perfectly suited for managers/supervisors or employees in remote work contexts, this course will help you navigate challenges related to remote work.

This course is designed to empower college faculty members with the knowledge and skills required to engage in the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL) and successfully publish their findings. Through a combination of instructional content and practical exercises, participants will gain insights into the SoTL landscape, learn effective publication strategies, explore suitable venues for their work, and understand best practices for conducting impactful SoTL research.

1. Define the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL) and its significance

The purpose of this module is to present a foundational perspective on leadership. It is important to note that there is not one common and accepted-by-all definition of leadership. Instead, there are principles and best practices that can help individuals understand their own leadership style and adapt depending on the situation. By engaging in the self-assessment practices in this module, you will develop a clear understanding of yourself as a leader and the strengths you bring to a team. Content in this webinar includes leadership, mission, vision, goals, measurement, emotional intelligence, and managing up, down, and across.

Transformational Teams
The purpose of this module is to present best practices surrounding transformational teams. Every team is unique however by understanding the purpose of teams and establishing clear directives, leaders can prepare teams for any task. The content in this module presents content surrounding team effectiveness, culture, team foundations, leading and managing high-impact teams, decision-making, and problem-solving.

Generational Differences
The purpose of this module is to present information related to generational differences. Generations, those born between a specified year range who often share life experiences of their formative years, have become hot-button conversation categories for organizations. As organizations try to effectively manage and lead up to five generations in the workforce, understanding the desires of each generation is a non-negotiable reality.
Outcomes:
1) Gain a more detailed understanding of generational differences
2) Understand the implications of a multigenerational context for the workplace
Strategies
The purpose of this module is to present strategies for managing a multigenerational workplace. Leaders can establish unique strategies to engage all generations and this module will help you develop your own plan for reaching Generation Z, Millennial, Generation X, and Boomer workers. The benefits of a multigenerational workforce are also discussed.
